FAQ

Skills:

Do I have to know how to navigate?

No. The guide will have a map, compass and a GPS, plus all our guides have good local knowledge in the areas we operate in.

Do I have to know how to swim?

Yes for some of our activities. We will provide you with a Personal Flotation Device (PFD) on all our activities, where it is required. But we still want you to be able to swim at least 100 meters.

Food:

What if I have food intolerance, food allergy or I am a vegetarian?

2Tides can change the menu, as long as you inform us in advance, so no problem.

Can I bring my own snacks?

Yes. although it is not really necessary.

Animals:

Are there any dangerous animals on your trips?

No. We find that the larger animals are more afraid of us, than the other way around. And we always keep our distance. Plus we usually find the small animals much more of a real nuisance, trying to steal our food.

Health:

Where do I go to the washroom?

Depends what trip you join us on, but it will be written on your specific trip. And our guides will tell you the skills and etiquette if required before the trip leaves.

What happens if I hurt myself?

All our guides have Advanced Wilderness First Aid and carry a well provisioned first aid kit. If it is a minor scrape, we will get you on your way and monitor the injury. If it is serious enough situation, the guide in charge will evaluate the situation and make the arrangements for evacuation.

Are there showers on the trips?

No. However, on most of our trips, there will be running water to wash in, very refreshing.

Gear:

Do I have to buy special clothing and equipment?

Yes and No. Depends on what you already have. On most of our trips, we recommend synthetic underwear and fleeces and Goretex as your outer layer. On some of our trips, you will need more warm clothing. Please download the “Gear list” for your specific trip.

What about my jewelry?

We highly recommend that you do not bring your jewellery on the trip, especially sentimental or significant pieces. We are not responsible for lost jewellery or jewellery that is damaged.

Weather:

What happens if it is bad weather?

In Sweden there is a saying “There is no bad weather, only bad clothing.” All our trips will run whatever weather, but in case of danger. We will take precautions, which could be staying in camp, enjoying each other’s company or arrange a different transportation. The guide will make sure that everyone is comfortable at all times.

Emergency Planning & Communication:

Does 2Tides have an emergency plan?

Yes. We have several contingency plans depending on the type of emergency. All our guides carry a list with all the relevant emergency numbers. We also have standard protocols for emergency situations and all our guides have Advanced Wilderness First Aid. In the event of a catastrophic incident, each trip is a self-contained unit and has the ability to function remotely until help arrives.

What happens if I have to get home quickly?

If you have to leave the trip to respond to an emergency, we will present the options to you depending on where you are and how fast you have to get back. The guide will try to help you, coordinate transportation to get you where you need to go. However you will have to pay for the transportation yourself.
